Similar in size and scale to the Albany and Manukau City Metropolitan centres, a major business, commercial and employment growth hub has commenced development on 450 hectares of existing and new commercial land adjacent to West Hills.

When completed, the new North West Metropolitan Centre will include seven distinct commercial precincts that will cater for a broad range of business and employment activity, civic services and residential options that will combine to act as the major commercial centre for the entire North West Auckland region.

The new retail, business and commercial area is bounded by the North Western motorway to the east, Fred Taylor Drive to the west, Westgate Drive to the south and Northside Drive to the north and caters for buildings up to eight stories in height, with the creation of 13,300 new jobs expected over the coming three decades.

The addition of future transport infrastructure will also assist in transforming the North West Metropolitan Centre into a major public transport interchange with improved State Highway connections to the north, west and south, the addition of light rail and ferry services to the CBD and supported by new park and ride facilities.
